How do I edit captions or subtitles after the video is generated?
Learn how to update or customize captions and text in your video using Zebracat's editor.
You can easily edit captions, subtitles, and on-screen text in Zebracat after your video is generated — right inside the editor.
Here’s how:
Step 1: Open your video project
Go to the video you want to edit and click “Edit” to enter the editor.

Step 2: Click on the subtitle bar in the timeline
At the bottom of the screen, you'll see a timeline with subtitles broken into segments (gray boxes).
Each box represents one line of your caption.

Step 3: Click and edit the text
Click on any subtitle box to open the text field.
📝 When you update the caption, it won’t affect your voiceover. You’re only changing the text shown on screen.
Step 4 (Optional): Customize subtitle style or turn them off
Once you've edited your subtitles, you can adjust how they appear in your video using the Text tab in the editor. Here’s how:

Click on the “Text” tab on the left-hand side of the screen.
This opens two sections:
- Text Effects – These are pre-made subtitle styles based on what’s already working on social platforms. You’ll find:
- Bold, fast-paced styles perfect for TikTok and Reels
- Clean, professional templates great for YouTube or business content
- Highlighted keywords for better retention
Just click to preview and choose the one that fits your content — no extra editing needed.
- Text Settings – where you control font size, font style, text color, and visibility:
- Adjust font size for better readability
- Change the font style to match your brand
- Pick a text color that fits your background
- Toggle “Show Text Captions” on or off to control whether subtitles appear at all
✨ With these tools, you have full creative control — and you can make your captions look just as polished as your message sounds.
